Is laminate flooring waterproof?
Many newer laminate lines are water-resistant, and some are sold as waterproof. Installed well, they handle everyday spills and pet accidents. Because there's real wood fiber in the core, standing water should still be wiped up promptly.
Laminate or luxury vinyl: which should I choose?
They're closer than ever in price, look and features. Laminate usually has the edge on scratch and wear resistance; luxury vinyl has the edge on water. Often it comes down to the color and pattern you love most. Compare them on our luxury vinyl page or side by side at the design center.
Can laminate go throughout the whole house?
Yes. Laminate works in living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and kitchens, and many customers run one laminate through the whole main floor. We'll help you pick a waterproof line for the rooms that see the most water.
Is laminate good with pets?
Yes. A tough wear layer stands up to claws and everyday traffic, which is why so many pet owners choose it.
Can laminate be refinished?
No. Laminate can't be sanded and refinished like hardwood, but damaged planks can often be replaced. Its scratch resistance means most homes never need to.
